For Your Prayers

The King, the Government and all government ministers. Our Bishops and Church House staff. The ministry of St James and St Thomas, and for all people who are part of the ministry of the church, lay and ordained. For the PCC’s of the churches.

The communities that make up Hebden Bridge and Heptonstall, giving particular thanks for the schools and all who work together to encourage others.

For international relationships, especially between Russia and Ukraine, for people who are struggling financially, for Rev Jonathan Oldfield, for all who have used the pebble pool in their prayers, and for those recovering from illness, and those who have lost loved ones recently.

Even if you didn’t sign up for a group, you are very welcome to join one. Please ask Shan or Rosemary for contact details and addresses of private residences.

6 groups are running:

Mondays at 10am Mytholmroyd (private residence)

Tuesdays at 2pm Hope Baptist Church

Wednesdays at 2pm Hebden Bridge (private residence)

Wednesdays at 7.30pm from 1st March on Zoom

Thursdays at 2pm St Thomas’s, Heptonstall

This year’s course is rooted in poems from Janet Morley’s very popular book of poems for Lent and Easter, ‘The Heart’s Time’. Each week we are reflecting on a related Bible passage and two poems from the book. Everyone is welcome, and all opinions and questions will be valued – you don’t need to know anything about poetry! You won’t need your own copy of the book, but it is easily available online or from the Bookcase if you would like your own.

St James’ Reading Rota: Liz McC has produced a Readers’ Rota consisting of 5 people, but it is not an exclusive group. Anyone who would like to be included, please tell Liz and give her your phone number. If anyone is unable to read on their designated date, please contact another reader to fill the gap.

Calder Community Cares and St James’ Church: Each day we get donated bread/rolls and some pastries from the local Co-ops. These are free and must be eaten the same day. Fruit, vegetables and other items are sometimes also available. If you would like some (free), please call at the church to collect.  We are open Monday to Friday 2.30pm - 3.30pm, Tuesday morning 10.30am - 1.00pm, Saturday 11am to 12 pm and Sunday for about half an hour after the morning service.
